Inge du Plessis
Venue 13
Inge du Plessis’ painting style is figurative; representational yet relishing the joy of painting and the beautiful and ever surprising things that oils, mediums and a few painting tools can do. She finds as much joy in the building of a representational 3-dimasional form as she does in creating the abstract space surrounding it.
This feels like a time of rapid growth for her as painter. Continuing to learn about technique yet also experiencing relief of the constant tug toward realism. Inge paints from references; from life where she can, though mostly from photos, edited and/or combined to facilitate the idea she is following.
Her work deals with memory, retelling stories and making visual connections between events and perceptions. Sometimes poetically reimagining history or events. In most of her works the subject involves people within a suggested narrative. Fragments of ideas usually clarify through the physical process of painting and visual decision making. This for her is the joy of being inside the maze and painting her way out.

Jill Chadwick

My passion for glass and colour started almost 30 years ago and my work is continually evolving. My art is a representation of what I see in my mind rather than an exact image of what I see and I love to explore the endless possibilities of working in glass. Nothing beats the anticipation of opening the kiln to see a new creation. I make fused glass artworks and stained glass and am happy to take commissions.

A former biologist Jo continues to find inspiration in the natural world. Favoured media include charcoal, pastel, watercolour and acrylic with elements of collage and printmaking. Much of Jo’s work is rooted in observation but experimenting with materials often leads to a more playful and imaginative approach to landscape, still life and colour.
Over the past year, inspired by poetry and surrealist paintings Jo has created new imaginative works evoking the unreal, to be shown alongside paintings of still life and landscape.
Jo continues to teach adults locally and is an Honorary and Past President of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, with whom she exhibits regularly, and earlier in the year had work selected for the Society’s open exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.

Printmaking is like Christmas - that first roll of the ink onto the lino is always magical.
I work from my own drawings in ink and then transfer to lino and spend a long time cutting before I reach that magical moment.
I like to include people in my prints, even if you can't always see their faces. And pattern is really important to me too; whether it's a floral wallpaper background in a print, or a check on a blouse or skirt.
I am always drawn to the striking appearance of prints myself, so lino printing is the perfect medium for me. I'm towards the beginning of a journey into printmaking but am often told I already have a style (and it's certainly a journey I'm loving!)
