Amy Lovell

Amy Lovell is a self taught portrait and landscape artist living and working in Maidenhead, Berkshire. She works in a figurative style, predominatly in oils. Amy’s work has been shortlisted for Artists & Illustrators magazine’s 2023 British Art Prize, and she has been a prize winner at the Our Changing Earth Art Festival and the Maidenhead Town Show in 2023.
Amy enjoys capturing pleasing moments of light, colour or composition, often in scenes that would otherwise be unremarkable. In her portraits of family and local community, she aims to capture moments of pleasure or ‘flow’, when people are fully immersed in and enjoying an activity. She often focusses on the interplay between characters and their setting, and looks for moments of what she describes as ‘chance choreography’, where people are connecting with one another through a shared activity, which leads to symmetry and harmony in their postures and movements.
Amy practices by drawing and painting from life as much as possible, and otherwise works from photo and video references. Amy takes commissions for family portraits.

Bob Morris

Bob Morris's colourful abstract paintings are influenced by his experience of landscapes and the natural world. He paints in oils on canvas using a palette knife and brushes, creating expressive images that remind the viewer of their own familiar landscapes and emotions.

Claire Rollinson

Claire’s art practice has two streams - figurative and geometric. The figurative work is made through mono type, water-colour and oil.. This work draws on her own mythological characters that have emerged over years. She is at pains to treat them kindly. The geometric watercolours are aimed towards transcendence addressing the contradictions of daily life and our desire for the sublime. These two lines of work complement and support each other.

Connie attended Henley College in Oxfordshire to study ceramics. For Connie this marked the beginning of a new life. Her passion for pottery particularly animal sculptures. Over the years she participated in a number of sculpting workshops
Now Connie runs her own pottery and sculpture courses.

Dawn Carroll makes ceramic sculpture inspired by man and his connection to the environment. Each sculpture is unique and individually handmade. It is through the making and glazing process that their individual characters appear.

Diane Large
Venue 5
Once a graphic and textile designer and printmaker, Diane has been a painter for ten years, using acrylics and mixed media. Her work has been shown at the Mall Galleries, Society of Women Artists and The Royal Academy as well as local venues in Bucks and Berks. Her work is quite figurative, mostly landscape, cityscape and still life and she often incorporates collage into her painting.

Donna White is a highly experienced artist with over 50 years of artistic practice under her belt. She holds a university degree and a higher education diploma, which has equipped her with a robust foundation in art. Her work has been recognized in a book on South African art, and she has participated in a range of prestigious National exhibitions, including the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal West of England Autumn Show, and the Royal Society of portrait painters in London.
Donna has had numerous solo shows, showcasing her unique artistic perspective and technical prowess. Additionally, she has also taught art to both adults and children over several years, sharing her knowledge and passion with her students. Her expertise in the field has also led to her being selected to judge a number of art competitions, further demonstrating her dedication and contributions to the art world.

Dorothea Reid makes function and decorative ceramics and sculptures, including work suitable for the garden. She is also a printmaker. Much of her work is about her love of the sea. She completed an MA (Ceramics) in 2015 using print and clay and exhibited this work in the UK and in Denmark. She works from her studio at home in South Bucks and from the print studio in Amersham College. She is a member of several pottery and sculpture societies and the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild.

Gill Griffith

Gill took up art later in life and has had enjoyed experimenting in many different media, initially focusing on acrylics and printmaking (Lino print, etching and collograph). However, in the last couple of years she has become involved in Plein Air sketching which has triggered an interest in pen and wash and watercolours.

Grant Forsyth

Working in Gold, silver and natural gemstones Grant uses texture to create organic and earthy designs, mixing metal to create beautiful wearable pieces, Grant also specialises in chain making often adding these to his designs.

Heather McDowell
Venue 10
Heather graduated from hobby to selling artist in 2013 as a second career, creating a body of work based first on portraiture, then landscapes which gradually became abstracted and, since 2022, floral studies. Largely self taught with forays into life drawing and in-person workshops, she completed Louise Fletcher’s 12 week FYJ course in 2023.
Heather aims to express a range of life experiences through her latest floral series. Starting with photo references from her garden and local area, she looks for themes which show that there’s more to flowers and life than “perfection”. A cycle of growth, maturation and transition into winter and then new shoots triggered by a cold spell can all be significant. After a period of exploration on paper, the first layers of a painting are loose, mood-based gestures, adjusting composition and then adding carefully observed petals and leaves, with a palette of creamy whites, vivacious reds and luscious greens. Although sometimes nothing visible remains of an underpainting (or the mood that made it), its presence changes the course of the painting and makes the outcome less predictable.

I am a potter working primarily with stoneware clay. I hand build and use the pottery wheel to make a range of functional and sculptural pieces.
I love to experiment with glazes to achieve distinct colour combinations which give individuality to every finished piece.
My work is fired to a high temperature making it hardwearing, ovenproof, dishwasher safe and frost proof.
Small steps lead to the venue rooms. Plenty of parking.

My painting style is figurative; representational yet relishing the texture, movement and separate visual demands of brush and oil paint.
My works involve people within a suggested narrative; a condensed history or moment, suggesting action that preceded or follows the event of the subject matter, yet I also have a deep fondness for portraiture, including self-portraits.
Often using a language of private symbolism, I rely on visual, rather than verbal cues to plan a work or series. More often than not, an idea clarifies itself through the practical process of painting and visual decision making.
One Step to front door. End of a Close so parking is tricky.

Through my love of the natural world I arrived at very organic forms. I also love creating pieces which are influenced by the ancient cultures Japan, China, the Middle East and Africa.
Access through side gate to the left of the house. Only one low step to enter studio and other artists will be in the garden and that is flat. Parking on the drive or on the road.

My passion for glass and colour started almost 30 years ago. I love to explore the endless possibilities of working in glass and relish the anticipation of opening the kiln to see a new creation or creating a stained-glass window design for a customer. I make fused glass artworks and stained glass and am happy to take commissions. This year I will have a large selection of discounted items for sale to make way for a new style of work next year.

A former biologist Jo continues to find inspiration in the natural world and also in the changing face of the land and how nature can soften the appearance of domestic and industrial derelicts. Favoured media include charcoal, pastel, watercolour and acrylic sometimes with elements of collage and printmaking. Much of Jo’s work is rooted in observation but experimenting with materials often leads to a more playful and imaginative approach with landscape, still life and colour.
This year Jo has revisited her love of flowers in watercolour and acrylic and has also produced several more imaginative mixed media works that either evoke places or narratives.
Jo continues to teach adults locally and is an Honorary and Past President of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, with whom she exhibits regularly, and earlier in the year had work selected for the Society’s open exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.

John is interested in the process of painting as a metaphor for life which begins from different starting points and proceeds via the choices available, the decisions made, and chance events which can affect or completely change the direction initially chosen or forced by those initial conditions.
He sets up a starting point on the canvas, a ground colour or collaged strips of canvas, then selects colours and decides how and where to place them, usually finishing with a chance element which can destroy or make the work.
He aims to make paintings that will stand just as paintings rather than pictures of something. They are enigmatic, contemplative objects, carrying a certain poetic power and, at the same time, a statement of personal ideals and an expression of his sense of the orderly disorder around us, the process and the continual struggle between necessary social order and desirable personal anarchy.
The venue is an ordinary house used as a gallery. The studio is upstairs but there are 12 paintings on show all over the house. There is room for one or two cars on the drive if parked neatly

Julie Bennett creates bold, unapologetically confident portraits with an overly exaggerated painted surface as a juxtaposition to our digital world. Working mostly in oil, she captures the emotional state of the individual whether that is a fictional character, a friend, or a person of interest. The physicality of paint is central to her practice.
